Extended macro language

Enhance the macro language to allow access to functionality in external COM components

This enables new functionality to be implemented in any language that supports the creation of COM components (such as C# and Visual Basis .NET)

Device configuration has now been significantly re-designed, to allow for greater external control over the configuration process and to provide support for more types of device within the standard installation 

OPOS-based customer displays and weigh-scales are all now supported directly by the standard installation

Object model changes

A number of incremental improvements have been made to the Sage POS Object Model. (Operator, paylines, printer & taxlist)

Objects have been extended and enhanced to provide greater flexibility and control

Payment processing

Improve the customisation options of the payment processing mechanism.  A new macro has been introduced which allows modification of the change tender

Cash drawer control

Provide an option to open the cash drawer when making a sale on a account.  Improve the optional macros for cash drawer operation

Postcode look-up

Improve the Zapcode-based postcode plug-in, for consistency with Object Model.  This provides the macro language with direct access to postcode look-up functionality and the resulting address details or error messages

Provide a general-purpose address capture facility, with automatic use of Capscan Zapcode if installed

Document creation and printing

Improve the printing model.  Adds a print-job definition language (PDL), which is a simple XML-based file format that describes the content and layout of print documents.  Receipts, invoices and delivery notes are available in this release.  Provide a standard mechanism for accessing Windows printers

Note:  General listings and reports continue to use the traditional printing mechanisms of Sage POS

Manager override at till

Provide an option for manager authorisation of reason codes at the till.  This is an optional feature, controlled via the till configuration settings

Managers can perform a ‘quick authorise' using their sign-on code

Till profiles

Provide an option to automatically switch the till's tax calculation mode based on account selection.  The till can now switch automatically to a ‘trade counter' mode whenever a sales account is selected by the operator, and switch back to a ‘retail' mode whenever the default till account is re-instated.  This is an optional feature, controlled via the till configuration settings
