Legislation changes for 2009/2010

The following legislation changes are coming into effect as of 1st April 2009:

Statutory holiday entitlement

From 1st April 2009, the statutory minimum holiday entitlement increases from 4.8 weeks to 5.6 weeks.  This is capped at 28 days and can include bank and public holidays.

If you have a holiday year that does not run from 1st April you must manually calculate the pro rata increase for the remainder of your holiday year.

Statutory payment rates

For the 2009/2010 tax year the standard rate for maternity pay, paternity pay and adoption pay increases to £123.06, or 90% of average earnings, whichever is lower.

These payments are made on a weekly basis, starting on a Sunday, and you can't pay part of a week at one rate and part of a week at another rate.  As a result, this new rate comes in affect from Sunday 5th April, which is the first Sunday in April.

As long as you install the new tax year update, Sage 50 Payroll will use the correct legislation to calculate pay in the 2009/2010 tax year.
